President, First Lady, State Counsellor enshrine religious objects into Eternal Peace Pagoda

President U Win Myint, First Lady Daw Cho Cho and State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi enshrined religious objects and Buddha images into the relic chamber of the Eternal Peace Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

Before the ceremony, the State Counsellor offered alms, flowers and water to the Buddha at the Buddha image kept in a building in the compound of the pagoda, which is still under construction.

The congregation led by the President received the Nine Precepts from State Ovadacariya Sayadaw Abhidaja Maharatthaguru Bhaddanta Kavisara of Zegon Monastery in Nay Pyi Taw, Pyinmana.

Following the recitation of parittas and holy verses of the Buddha by the Members of the Sangha, President U Win Myint and First Lady Daw Cho Cho presented offertories and a Buddha image sculpture symbolizing the Buddha’s victory over Mara the evil deva and
achievement of His Enlightenment to Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kavisara before they were enshrined in the reliquary chamber of the pagoda.

Afterwards, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi presented a Buddha images symbolizing the Buddha’s Great Eight Victories to Sayadaw Bhaddanta Janinda, a golden reliquary, a golden lotus flower and offertories to Shwe Parami Tawya Sayadaw Ashin Sanda Dhika.

Afterwards, Vice President U Myint Swe and wife Daw Khin Thet Htay, presented a Buddha image and offertories to Maha Ledisan Sayadaw.

Union Ministers, the Union Attorney-General, Union Auditor-General, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman and donors also presented Buddha images and offertories to the Members of the Sangha.

Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kavisara administered the sermon to the congregation before the second session of the ceremony.

Before the Buddha images and religious objects were enshrined into the reliquary chamber of the pagoda, they were conveyed in a procession around the pagoda clockwise for obeisance.

Afterwards, the State Counsellor and Union ministers relayed the Buddha images and religious objects to the original reliquary chamber of the pagoda.

At the auspicious time, Shweparami Sayadaw Ashin Sanda Dhika, President U Win Myint, Vice President U Myint Swe and donors enshrined them in the chamber.

Afterwards, they spread the jewelries in the chamber and closed it. The ceremony came to an end with the recitation of holy verses of the Buddha by the Members of the Sangha.
