Vice President U Henry Van Thio, wife grace opening ceremony of Nay Pyi Taw Mayor’s Thingyan Pandal

 

Vice Van Thio and wife Dr. Shwe Hlwan graced the President U Henry opening ceremony of Nay Pyi Taw Mayor’s Thingyan Pandal at Nay Pyi Taw Town Hall yesterday afternoon.

At the ceremony Nay Pyi Taw Mayor Dr. Myo Aung first delivered a New Year greeting speech followed by Union Minister for Information Dr. Pe Myint, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko and Nay Pyi Taw Mayor Dr. Myo Aung cutting the ceremonial ribbon to open the Nay Pyi Taw Mayor’s Thingyan Pandal.

Next, the Vice Presidentand wife, Union Election Commission Chairman U Hla Thein and wife Daw Aye Thida, Union Ministers and wives, Nay Pyi Taw Mayor and wife sprinkled Thingyan water on members of the dance troupes.

Afterwards dance troupes from ministries and townships in Nay Pyi Taw Council area performed dances while the Myanmar Radio modern music troupe sang a Thingyan song.

This was followed by songs and dances by popular singers, artistes and dance troupes.

During the Thingyan festival, artistes, singers and dance troupes will perform songs and dancesat the Nay Pyi Taw Mayor’s Thingyan Pandal while
Thingyan revelers will be treated with special Thingyan delicacies.
